The webinar was attended by Gabriel Quijandr\u00eda, Minister of Environment; Anton Willems, CEO of Profonanpe, and experts on topics related to Biodiversity, Climate Change, Water, Remediation, Green Climate Fund, Joint Declaration of Intent, Pacaya Samiria and Coastal Marine Zones.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The document will be delivered to the new government elected for the 2021-2026 period and will help defining the areas of work on which the organization will focus in the coming years. With this report, Profonanpe reaffirms its commitment as an ally in the construction and implementation of an environmental agenda that responds to the needs and demands of our situation, and that brings together the public, private and civil society sectors in its development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIn recent years, we have witnessed a growing interest and commitment to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), whose implementation not only makes us aware of the importance of intersectoriality for growth, but also calls us to act in a timely manner and get involved in the challenge of nature conservation. This change depends not only on Profonanpe, as Peru\u2019s Environmental Fund, but also on the commitment and constant work of the different environmental entities, and above all of the other productive sectors, the public sector and civil society,\u201d affirmed Anton Willems, Profonanpe\u2019s CEO, during the event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For his part, the head of the Ministry of the Environment highlighted Profonanpe\u2019s role as an ally dedicated to the environmental agenda and the importance of efforts to develop spaces that bring together various members of the public and private sectors to gather opinions on critical issues related to the country\u2019s environmental agenda.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe concern for environmental issues must be seen in the broader context of development, in the context of generating opportunities and seeing how we can recover the productive capacity of lands that have been degraded due to lack of attention or bad practices. In this sense, the extension of Profonanpe\u2019s mandate allows us to adapt the entity\u2019s capacities to the multidimensional reality, understanding that protected areas must be seen from a territorial logic integrated to what happens outside of them,\u201d said Gabriel Quijandr\u00eda, Peru\u2019s Minister of the Environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among the panelists participating in the last edition of the Thematic Roundtables: \u201cBy Nature\u201d were Carlos Adrianz\u00e9n, Environmental Affairs Manager of Celepsa; Pedro Gamboa, head of SERNANP; Luc\u00eda Ruiz, member of the Board of Directors of Sunass; Clara Indacochea, geological engineer and independent consultant, among other experts. Maria DiGiano, director of the Andes-Amazon Initiative of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, congratulated the preparation of the document and the space to advance the environmental agenda for a Sustainable Peru.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMany times we measure our achievements in environmental conservation through numbers such as hectares of forests conserved, trees planted and carbon reduced; however, behind all this are people like you.
