{"id":24967,"date":"2023-03-20T08:41:21","date_gmt":"2023-03-20T13:41:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ingles.profonanpe.org.pe\/?p=24967"},"modified":"2023-03-20T08:42:11","modified_gmt":"2023-03-20T13:42:11","slug":"profonanpe-and-the-british-embassy-in-peru-held-a-seminar-on-the-use-of-renewable-energies-in-indigenous-territories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ingles.profonanpe.org.pe\/?p=24967","title":{"rendered":"Profonanpe and the British Embassy in Peru held a seminar on the use of renewable energies in indigenous territories."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On March 13, in the Serfor auditorium, the \u201cFirst seminar on the use and adoption of renewable energies in sustainable production chains in indigenous territories\u201d was held, in which different companies, productive associations and state institutions exchanged experiences on the use of clean energies and the importance of their implementation in sustainable production in Peru, with the aim of increasing competitiveness and combating climate change.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Luis Alberto Gonzales-Z\u00fa\u00f1iga,<\/strong> Executive Director of the National Forestry and Wildlife Service (SERFOR), and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Peru, <strong>Gavin Cook<\/strong>, began the event by emphasizing the work being done by the State and the embassy to generate the exchange of technological knowledge that promotes support for pollution-free value chains -with the aim of strengthening sustainable bio-businesses through the use of clean energy- from an environmental development perspective.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cwe are exchanging experiences and opportunities to explore new forms of support from the bioeconomy, articulating their efforts from green finance and market access, with clean energy and sustainable infrastructure,\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> said Gavin Cook, Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Peru.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_28135\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-28135\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-28135 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_6577-1024x743.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"580\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-28135\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Luis Alberto Gonzales-Z\u00fa\u00f1iga, Executive Director of SERFOR; and the UK Ambassador to Peru, Gavin Cook.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_28154\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-28154\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-28154 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_7113-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-28154\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dialogue session between I\u00f1igo Maneiro, Tom\u00e1s Luy, Ignacio Piqueras, Luis Marino, Sandra Vergara and Fanny Carhuancho.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event was attended by members of different projects such as <strong>I\u00f1igo Maneiro,<\/strong> Director of the Social and Cultural Area of the Binational Development Plan for the Peru-Ecuador Border Region; <strong>Tom\u00e1s Luy,<\/strong> General Manager of Novum Solar; and <strong>Luis Marino<\/strong>, Director of Conservation International\u2019s Business Alliance for the Amazon; <strong>Sandra Vergara,<\/strong> Coordinator of the Rural Sector Support Group of Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica del Per\u00fa; and <strong>Fanny Carhuancho,<\/strong> Professor of the Environmental Engineering Department of Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina; who, from their respective fields, presented the scope of their projects and research in renewable energies and how they have benefited different Amazonian communities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Ignacio Piqueras<\/strong>, bio-business specialist of the project \u201cBuilding Resilience in the Datem del Mara\u00f1\u00f3n Wetlands, Loreto\u201d, presented the work and progress of the productive associations that have been developed and strengthened within the framework of the work of Profonanpe, Peru\u2019s environmental fund. In this sense, it is highlighted that so far, the quality improvement has been achieved by having permanent energy and increasing business productivity by approximately 150 %.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-28155 size-large alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IGNACIO-EMP-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among those present were Jos\u00e9 Alarc\u00f3n, President of the Achuar Shakaim Agrarian Cooperative, and Gabriel Cruz, President of the Association of Producers of Ungurahui and Aguaje of Indigenous Peoples of the Mara\u00f1\u00f3n Sector &#8211; APUAPISEM, who highlighted the work done in conjunction with Profonanpe that has allowed their bio-businesses to generate, in the last year alone, an important production of cocoa and chocolate, and more than 400 liters of aguaje oil, respectively.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_28156\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-28156\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-28156 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_7409-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-28156\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jos\u00e9 Alarcon, President of the Achuar Shakaim Agrarian Cooperative and Gabriel Cruz, President of the Association of Producers of Ungurahui and Aguaje of Indigenous Peoples of the Mara\u00f1\u00f3n Sector &#8211; APUAPISEM.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This space made it possible to highlight the progress that has been made in overcoming social inequalities and enabling the development of sustainable businesses. It also showed good practices in the use of science that have improved the resilience of indigenous communities and their living conditions, while at the same time seeking to reduce carbon emissions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Datem Wetlands Project<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since 2017, Profonanpe has implemented the Datem Wetlands project, which focuses on improving the resilience of indigenous communities living in wetlands and reducing greenhouse gas emissions caused by deforestation.
