On Thursday, April 22<\/span>nd<\/span>, Jos\u00e9 Koechlin, President of the National Chamber of Tourism – CANATUR and Anton Willems, CEO of Profonanpe, met with the purpose of joining efforts to promote collaboration between both entities to impact the areas of influence of tourism activities, designing joint initiatives and seeking funding for their implementation.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As part of the organization of the XXV RedLAC 2023 Congress, the importance of carefully selecting a strategic venue for the event has been identified, since this congress annually brings together the main environmental funds, international cooperation and the public sector. Likewise, to continue strengthening Peru\u2019s international projection as a key ally in the implementation of the regional environmental agenda and as an attractive tourist destination that promotes nature conservation and the sustainability of life.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Given that Cusco is home to several protected natural areas of global significance, including the Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary, this city has been chosen as the main venue to address key aspects of the management and sustainable management of these areas in Latin America and the Caribbean. Profonanpe\u2019s experience in channeling and managing financial resources, in close collaboration with the National Service of Natural Areas Protected by the State (Sernanp), will serve as a starting point for sharing knowledge.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This agreement will enable the development of joint initiatives that promote sustainability in the tourism value chain. This includes the organization of congresses, forums and awareness programs, as well as the design of technical assistance and training programs to promote the growth of human capital in the areas involved. In addition, the exchange of valuable information between the parties will be encouraged and funding will be sought to generate an impact in the areas of influence of the joint activities.<\/span><\/p>\n

ABOUT REDLAC 2023:<\/b><\/p>\n

As part of the re-launching of the country\u2019s image and economic reactivation as part of Profonanpe\u2019s 30 years of institutional life and 25 years of the Network of Environmental Funds of Latin America and the Caribbean (RedLAC) – this year the city of Cusco has been chosen to host the XXV International Congress of the Network of Environmental Funds of Latin America and the Caribbean (RedLAC) Cusco – Peru, which annually brings together 27 delegations from 19 countries to exchange unique opportunities for participation and learning among its member funds, strategic allies, donors, impact investors, government representatives and the global conservation finance community, with the objective of addressing environmental issues of relevance to the community and sharing the added value of Conservation Trust Funds in meeting global conservation goals.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The event will be held in person in the city of Cusco, from Monday, October 23<\/span>rd<\/span> to Thursday, October 26<\/span>th<\/span>.\u00a0 During the four days of the exchange, the advances and challenges in new financing mechanisms, biodiversity conservation, impact monitoring and evaluation, knowledge management, management with indigenous peoples and communications will be discussed in depth.
