In its first call for proposals, the Conserve Birds in Peru initiative announced the 7 selected organizations that presented proposals with innovative approaches to bird conservation, from the creation of subnational protected areas to the implementation of nature-based solutions and community participation.<\/p>\n

The selected projects seek to protect endangered species and their habitats, and work closely with local communities, authorities and other stakeholders to ensure the long-term sustainability of living territories.<\/p>\n

Las organizaciones seleccionadas para la implementaci\u00f3n de la Iniciativa de Conserva Aves en Per\u00fa son:<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The AMA Network seeks to support the expansion of the Bosque de Palmeras-Molinopampa ACP and the Bosque Berl\u00edn ACP, as well as the reaccreditation and expansion of the Milpuj ACP, all of which are part of the AMA Network. This project aims to conserve approximately 6,000 hectares and minimize the impacts of deforestation and environmental and climate risks, working with the surrounding population, local communities, authorities and other stakeholders.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Its objective is to create a Regional Conservation Area (RCA) in the Pucut\u00e1 Mountain Range (Jun\u00edn), covering 52,703.66 hectares. The goal is to protect ecosystems and environmental services, as well as preserve the diverse endemic bird species for the benefit of local communities. Conserva Aves will finance complementary actions to Rainforest Trust’s funding, which guarantees a strategic alliance for conservation.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n CONMANOPE will contribute to recover and restore the mangrove ecosystem of Tumbes through the creation of a Regional Conservation Area, which will strengthen integrated management aimed at consolidating the Mangrove Ecosystem as an Integrated Management Unit in the Tumbes Coastal Marine Management Plan. This project is expected to protect and conserve 5,000 hectares.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Its objective is focused on the conservation of the biodiversity of native species of the high Andean ecosystems, through the creation of a Private Conservation Area of almost 2,000 hectares. The Conserva Aves Initiative will protect endemic and migratory birds that are endangered or vulnerable, such as Black-eyed Scrub-Hawk (<\/span>Atlapetes melanopsis<\/span><\/i>), Black-banded Woodcreeper (<\/span>Anairetes alpinus<\/span><\/i>), Spectacled Woodpecker (<\/span>Asthenes palpebralis<\/span><\/i>), Oxapampa Antpitta (<\/span>Grallaria centralis<\/span><\/i>), or Junin Antpitta (<\/span>Grallaria obscura<\/span><\/i>).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Its objective is focused on the conservation of the biodiversity of native species of the high Andean ecosystems, through the creation of a Private Conservation Area of almost 2,000 hectares.
