The Hu\u00e1nuco region continues to implement actions against deforestation with the delivery of 135 Contracts for the Transfer of Use for Agroforestry Systems (CCUSAF) to 117 producers in the province of Leoncio Prado. These contracts were delivered during a ceremony on November 28 in the auditorium of the National Agrarian University of the Jungle, in Tingo Mar\u00eda.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The CCUSAF formalize the use of land suitable for forestry and allow for the implementation of agricultural, forestry, and soil recovery activities under a sustainable approach. Together, the 135 contracts awarded cover 434.55 hectares, where families will be able to promote agroforestry systems that regenerate the forest, improve the soil, and diversify their livelihoods.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This delivery was accompanied by the provision of a drone and three differential GPS devices, equipment that will strengthen technical work in the field for the collection of photogrammetric information and the production of high-precision georeferenced maps. This technology will provide detailed information for the planning of the area to be formalized, the sustainable planning of the use of its resources, and the process of registering the properties with Sunarp.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This new delivery is in addition to the 67 contracts awarded in July in the province of Puerto Inca, also with support from the Financial Mechanism of the Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI), which is led by the Ministry of the Environment and implemented by Profonanpe with funding from the Norwegian International Climate and Forest Initiative (NICFI). With this, Hu\u00e1nuco consolidates its progress in formalizing agroforestry practices that contribute to curbing forest conversion and reducing pressure on the Peruvian Amazon.<\/span><\/p>\n

The delivery process was led by the Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Hu\u00e1nuco, through the Technical Administration of Forestry and Wildlife (ATFFS) Tingo Mar\u00eda, with technical support from the National Forestry and Wildlife Service (SERFOR) and the Supervisory Agency for Forest and Wildlife Resources (OSINFOR).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With the delivery made in Tingo Mar\u00eda and the previous experience in Puerto Inca, the region is moving towards a more productive and sustainable Amazon, strengthening coordination between institutions and producers and contributing to the achievement of the national goal of reducing emissions from deforestation by 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

About the Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) \u2013 Phase 2<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Joint Declaration of Intent is a voluntary cooperation agreement signed by the governments of Peru, Norway, and Germany in 2014 to achieve a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions caused by deforestation and forest degradation. The United Kingdom joined the agreement in the addendum signed for the period 2021-2025.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The JII is led by the Ministry of the Environment and implemented by Profonanpe as a financial mechanism, with the participation of the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation, through SERFOR; the Ministry of Culture; the regional governments of San Mart\u00edn, Hu\u00e1nuco, Ucayali, Loreto, Amazonas, and Madre de Dios; and the indigenous organizations AIDESEP, CONAP, and ANECAP.
