The winning organizations will develop initiatives aimed at strengthening food security, diversifying livelihoods, and sustainably managing ecosystems in a region that is highly vulnerable to climate change.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The funding will enable measures such as the protection and recovery of water sources, the construction of reservoirs and forest nurseries, reforestation with Tara seedlings, the improvement of pastures and soils, and the strengthening of sustainable production chains such as improved guinea pig breeding and artisanal development with a circular approach.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Among the winning organizations is the La Flor de Tucman Producers Association, led by Gianinna Gil, which promotes sustainable craftsmanship based on the reuse of discarded materials.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cThere are thirteen families in the association. We want to innovate by reusing products that are usually discarded and transforming them into handicrafts. We make shawls, ponchos, blankets, saddlebags, and other woven items,<\/em>\u201d said the association\u2019s president.<\/span><\/p>\n

These initiatives were submitted to a public competition and selected. The selected proposals incorporate inclusion criteria and a gender focus, promoting the equitable participation of women, young people, and local communities. In addition, the selected initiatives strengthen climate resilience through agriculture, livestock, and crafts, integrating ancestral knowledge to address climate risks and protect livelihoods:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Reforestation with Tara and Sustainable Management of the Mayobamba Ecosystem for Adaptation to Climate Change.
    \n<\/span>Organization:<\/strong> Moyobamba Rural Community.<\/li>\n
  2. Sustainable management of pastures and soil in natural grasslands to ensure cattle feed and reduce vulnerability to climate change.
    \nOrganization:<\/strong> Q’fresco el progreso Agroindustrial Association.<\/li>\n
  3. Recovery of Native Forest Species through Plantations and Silvicultural Systems with Caesalpinia spinosa, Alnus acuminata, and Acacia macracantha to Improve Ecosystem Services (Carbon Sequestration and Water Infiltration) in the District of La Esperanza, Santa Cruz, Cajamarca.

  4. Strengthening Climate Resilience and Sustainable Management of Pastures and Soils in Livestock Systems of the Quilcate Populated Center.

  5. Ecological and Sustainable Improvement of the Guinea Pig Production Chain in the District of Chugur, Department of Cajamarca, by the Tres Lagunas Chungur Association.

  6. Implementation of the El Milagro Sustainable Guinea Pig Barn.

  7. Association of Agricultural and Artisan Producers Virgen del Perpetuo Socorro of the village of Cushic.

  8. Ecological guinea pig breeding for sustainable development of the Estrella Tongodina Agricultural Association.

  9. Improvement of the economic resilience of the artisans of the La Flor de Tucm\u00e1n Association through textile production and marketing adapted to the impacts of climate change.

  10. Strengthening the production and commercial activities of the Chancayano Promoters Association through innovation in healthy baking and the sustainable use of local ingredients in the district of Chancay Ba\u00f1os, province of Santa Cruz, Cajamarca region.

    The recognition ceremony was attended by representatives from MINAM, Imar Costa Norte, Profonanpe, and the basin\u2019s Water Resources Council, as well as local authorities and community organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Cuencas Vivas is implemented by Profonanpe, financed by the Adaptation Fund, and led by Imar Costa Norte in the Chancay\u2013Lambayeque basin. Its mission is to strengthen the resilience of communities and ecosystems in northern Peru in the face of climate change, contributing to national adaptation goals.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
